William Tobia M.S., M.B.A.

Lead Clinical Instructor, GlaxoSmithKline

William L. Tobia, M.S., M.B.A. is Lead Clinical Instructor for the US Monitoring division within GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals. Over the past seven years, he has been instrumental in driving the design, development, and delivery of training for the business unit. He has spent his entire career of over 45 years in the life sciences industry, the last fifteen of which as a Clinical Instructor. In addition, he serves as Adjunct Clinical Instructor with Drexel University College of Medicine, Boston University School of Medicine, and as Adjunct Assistant Professor with the Rutgers University School of Health Related Professions.

Early career training as a hospital laboratory technician led to a lengthy career with CIBA-Geigy (Novartis). Over the course of 22 years, Mr. Tobia served increasingly important roles within the departments of Microbiology Research, Clinical Research, Planning and Business Development, Medical and Public Affairs, and Finance. Broadened perspectives were gained through subsequent industry experiences with Becton Dickinson (medical devices), Phase Forward (electronic data capture), Boston Biostatistics (Aptiv Solutions), and PAREXEL International (CRO).

Mr. Tobia holds degrees of Bachelor of Science in Biology from Saint Josephs College, Master of Science in Microbiology from Wagner College, and M.B.A. from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Research interests include the effective use of technology in learning and development, cognitive psychology as applied to pharmaceutical marketing, and the design and development of mobile medical apps. In addition, he is the author of the publication, Your Career Guide to Clinical Research.
