R. Bert Wilkins is Regulatory Counsel for the Western Institutional Review Board (WIRB). Bert has been working for Institutional Review Boards (IRB) for over two years. As Regulatory Counsel, Bert advises Board members, staff, and clients on the interpretation of federal, state, international, laws, as well as, regulations and guidance from numerous federal agencies.
Bert has had an interest in research and research ethics since serving as a law clerk for the Attorney General's Office at the University of Washington. However, Bert has been interested in the healthcare field most of his life. He has worked in hospitals, both in administrative and legal capacities, a healthcare consulting firm, and has done health services research.
Bert graduated cum laude from Seattle University School of Law in 2007. Prior to law school, he earned a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Washington.
