Principal and Founder, Strategic Clinical Consultants

Dr. Strause is the Principal and Founder of Strategic Clinical Consultants. She brings over 25 years of expertise in global clinical operations and clinical development, with emphasis in oncology and ethical considerations for subjects with life-threatening disease. She was most recently the Executive Director and Head, Clinical Operations for Vical Incorporated where she was responsible for the conduct of all infectious disease programs and all aspects of a phase 3 clinical trial in malignant melanoma conducted at over 100 sites in 15 countries. Dr. Strause has executive management positions at biotechnology companies, site management and healthcare research organization; and at a global CRO. She has managed all activities of a global study launch including but not limited to site qualification and selection, all investigational site contracts, budgets, payments, regulatory documents and strategic planning. Dr. Strause consults for the biotechnology industry on clinical development and operation strategies and is considered an expert in oncology programs including phase 1 through 3 studies.

In addition, Dr. Strause was Senior Research Scholar and Founding Chair of the San Diego Hospice & Palliative Care IRB, where she served as chair of the IRB for over 15 years. Dr. Strause served on the ACRP Board of Trustees for 2005-2008. She is on a number of boards including; 1) member of the advisory board for Journal of Empirical Research on Human Research Ethics (JERHRE), 2) Chair, Regulatory Affairs Committee and member of the Global Conference Planning Committe, ACRP, 3) founding member of Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Leadership team, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of trust and education of the clinical trial process, 4) Past-Chair, Soul Sitters Advisory Board, and 5) Clinical Research Committee member, Center for Health Innovations.

Dr. Strause received her doctoral degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. During her twenty-five year career in research, she maintains an Adjunct Professor appointment at the University of California, San Diego, where she teaches an undergraduate course in Human Nutrition (enrollment >300). Dr. Strause is an invited speaker at clinical research conferences where she speaks on topics of precision medicine, site development, conducting global clinical trials, global outsourcing and the ethical considerations in clinical studies with emphasis on issues
