Kimberly Cooley RN, CCRC

RN Research Coordinator, OSF Saint Francis Medical Center

With over 16 year’s experience in the medical field, Kim Cooley has established herself as a leader in coordinating multiple sclerosis (MS) clinical trials. She currently works closely with Dr. Dennis Garwacki at the Illinois Neurological Institute (INI) MS Center in downstate Illinois. Over the past 6 years she has help build their research program to include not only successful clinical trials coordination but also has assisted with several investigator initiated projects in the neurological arena. A main focus for Kim the past few years has been in the development of a local MS Flowsheet database registry that includes pertinent MS medical information that cannot be easily captured in the medical institution's current electronic health record (EHR). The collaboration of investigators from the University of Illinois College of Medicine-Peoria, INI, and Saint Francis Medical Center has enabled this project to come to fore front. It is hoped that Providers, nurses, patients, and researchers will receive benefit from this local registry.

Kim graduated with her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1999 from Illinois Central College and later received her BSN from Illinois State University in 2010 where she graduated suma cum laude. She gave the RN to BSN Reflection Speech at her ISU graduation ceremony and has also presented at MS support groups in her local community.

During her leisure, Kim enjoys spending time with her family camping and is always looking for volunteer opportunities within her church to help others.
