Kelly McLaughlin M.S.

Associate Clinical Research Associate, Merck & Co., Inc.

My name is Kelly McLaughlin and I am an Associate Clinical Research Associate primarily focusing on Oncology. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise Science from Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota and completed a Master of Science degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology from the University of Mary in Bismarck, North Dakota. Upon graduating from graduate school, I worked as a Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist in outpatient cardiac and pulmonary rehab prior to transitioning my career into clinical research as a clinical research coordinator for oncology and pulmonology clinical trials. After two years as a clinical research coordinator, I enthusiastically joined Merck’s ACRA program. As an Associate Clinical Research Associate, I started my journey with Merck by participating in thorough in-house training led by experienced clinical research associates and additional senior roles, as well as a mentor dedicated to helping me learn to succeed on my own. Additionally, I completed ACRP training to which ensured in-depth understanding of International Conference of Harmonization Good Clinical Practice guidelines. Upon completing training, I have started the Clinical Research Associate role by developing site relationships and performing clinical site management and monitoring activities in compliance with International Conference of Harmonization Good Clinical Practice, Sponsor standards, Local Laws & Regulations, and study protocol. I will be speaking on career transitioning and beginning the role of a Clinical Research Associate.
