Kayla Deru works for Intermountain Healthcare at LDS Hospital for the hyperbaric medicine and critical care service lines. As a medical writer, she supports clinical research projects through their lifecycle, from the grant application and protocol development through study conduct and publication of results. She also mentors academic fellows through this process. Kayla considers herself a professional enabler, and her favorite projects are the kind investigators dream up late Friday afternoon, double points if the project involves necrotizing infection. She has a bachelors degree in English from Brigham Young University and is the Utah Education Director for the American Medical Writers Association.
