Kate Marusina Ph.D., MBA

Dr. Marusina serves as Manager, Clinical Trials at UC Davis. In this role, Dr. Marusina develops university-wide programs to streamline and improve clinical research processes. Her team assists principal investigators and staff with logistical support to clinical trials, budgeting and billing, monitoring of investigator-initiated trials and training and education. Dr. Marusina actively promotes scientific collaborations and developed several programs aimed at improving the transition of new products from bench to bedside via industry alliances or regulatory support including streamlining the path from a contact to a contract. She published several peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and reviews. Prior to UC Davis Dr. Marusina was a part of the Business Development Group at Novozymes A/S, Denmark, a global leader in industrial enzymes with over $1 billion in worldwide revenues. As a part of the global team, she was responsible for the U.S. activities in partnering and technology/product licensing. From 1998 to 2000, Dr. Marusina served as Product Manager of Clontech, then a Becton Dickinson Company, based in Palo Alto, California. She was responsible for an extensive portfolio of molecular biology products, including product development and global strategy, forecasts, marketing materials and sales training. Earlier, Dr. Marusina was a Territory Sales Manager for Stratagene, La Jolla, CA. She received the BS degree in Biochemistry from the Leningrad State University, Russia, Ph.D. in Molecular Immunology and MBA, both from the University of Cincinnati, OH. She did postdoctoral Fellowship at Howard Hughes Medical Institute, UCSF, San Francisco CA.
