Ms. Karli E. Carpenter is a graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She holds a Masters of Science in Nursing Administration and a Masters of Business Administration from Waynesburg University. For the past 3 years, Ms. Carpenter has worked for the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN), the first multi-center federally funded pediatric emergency care research program. She is located at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC where she works as a Nodal Administrator (NA), overseeing network research in the Emergency Departments (ED) of the 3 hospitals in her node. She is responsible for participating in research protocol development and submission, multi-center budget development, ensuring good clinical research practice, performance metric maintenance/development, and regulatory compliance. Ms. Carpenter serves as a resource for nodal and site principal investigators and research coordinators. She has experience with monitoring RCTs; as well as remote monitoring, having successfully piloted and launched a remote monitoring initiative for a PECARN RCT drug trial. 

Ms. Carpenter is also the Clinical Research Manager for the ED at Children's Hospital of UPMC, overseeing all ED research. She has experience in investigator initiated trials, federally funded, and industry sponsored RCTs. She also mentors graduate and undergraduate students from the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne through their respective research curriculum.

Ms. Carpenter serves on Children's Hospitals Council of Clinical Research Professionals as the chair of the Quality Improvement Committee. She is a member of the University of Pittsburgh's IRB and specializes in the review of pediatric research protocols. 

Ms. Carpenter has been a nurse in the ED at Children's Hospital of UPMC for 5 years. Her interests include pediatric trauma, biomedical informatics, and quality improvement.
