Janet Messer was recently appointed as Head of Research Management and Governance for the National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network Coordinating Centre. Prior to this she spent eight years supporting the development of streamlined systems for research across the NHS in the UK, including leading the development of the Integrated Research Application System. She has a background in conducting and managing clinical research in the pharmaceutical industry after obtaining a PhD in microbial biochemistry from Cambridge University.
