Fernando Martinez in his role as Vice President Business Development at PharmaNet/i3 (inVentiv Health), is responsible for the growth in emerging markets with a current focus on Asia Pacific. Prior to his current position, Dr. Martinez acted as Executive Director Global Operations at inVentiv Clinical Solutions being responsible for worldwide operations, including the oversight of global strategic alliances, as well as leading further efforts in corporate development. Over the years, Mr. Martinez held positions of increasing responsibility, gaining significant operational and commercial experience in several top-ten global CROs. Throughout his career, Mr. Martinez has been an active member in the international clinical research community, being a cofounder of the German and Spanish chapters and a currently acting as a member of the strategy board (AboT) at the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP). Dr. Martinez holds a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from University of Bristol (United Kingdom), as well as an MBA from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain). He received his Master of Science from the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (Germany). He has been published in a number of scientific journals for his research on opiate abuse and dependence, while obtaining awards for his academic career from industry and national health research institutes.
