Fabio Thiers MD, PhD

Fabio Thiers, MD, PhD is the Co-Director Strategic Global Trials Research Program at the MIT Center for Biomedical Innovation. Dr. Thiers is also affiliated with the MIT Sloan School of Management and the National Bureau of Economic Research in New York City.

The results of the initial phase of this project focused on the globalization of biopharmaceutical R&D were recently published in Nature Reviews Drug Discovery. The ongoing program is now centered on the decision-making process of the allocation of clinical sites for global trials.

Dr. Thiers got his Biomedical Business Masters and PhD from the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences & Technology. He has worked at the FDA's Office of Policy & Planning and has spent ten years at Harvard Medical School, where he made a groundbreaking discovery about the human hearing system. Before coming to Harvard, Dr. Thiers got his MD from the Federal University of Pernambuco, in Brazil.
