David Chapin MPD

CEO, Forma Life Science Marketing

David Chapin is author of “Making the Complex Compelling, Creating High Performance Marketing in the Life Sciences,” available from Rockbench Press. David was named Best Life Science Consultant in the 2013 BDO Triangle Life Science Awards.

He has a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Swarthmore College and a Master’s degree in Design from NC State University. He is the named inventor on more than forty patents. David has authored articles published by Life Science Leader, Impact, and PharmaExec magazines and MedAd News. His work has been recognized by AIGA, and featured in publications such as the Harvard Business Review, ID, Print, Design News and Medical Marketing and Media. He has taught at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at UNC-Chapel Hill and at the College of Design at NC State University.

David has presented to numerous groups about topics in marketing, including: Chiltern Innovation Symposium – as part of PharmaTimes Clinical Research of the Year finals, the CRO welcomes four leading thinkers to present on the topics of innovation, technology and communication in clinical research; MAGI 2015 East Clinical Research Conference; Virginia Bio; North Carolina Council for Innovation Network (NC COIN); Charlottesville Business Innovation Council (NBIC); 2013 MD&M Conference, “Break on Through to Creativity” workshop; 2012 ExL Pharma Business Development Strategies for Clinical Trials Service Providers Summit; Corporate Design Foundation’s annual symposium: “Design Leadership Symposium: The Intersection of Design and Business”.

David is the CEO of Forma Life Science Marketing, a leading marketing firm for life science companies. Forma works to increase marketing effectiveness and drive revenue, differentiate organizations and focus their messages. Forma distills complex messages into compelling communications; we make the complex compelling.

David is an avid baker and winner of ribbons at the NC State Fair, including the blue ribbon for his bread.
