Alasdair Breckenridge is Chairman of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency which was formed in April 2003 by the merger of the Medicines Control Agency and the Medical Devices Agency. Previously he was Chairman of the Committee on Safety of Medicines and Professor of Clinical Pharmacology in the University of Liverpool. He was knighted in 2004.
