Description
Never calculated an ANC from a manual diff? Does the CRF want your labs in different units than your lab reports? Not sure whether to use Bazett's or Fridericia's formula to calculate QT interval? Does it matter which? A quality data set depends on more than filling in every data point; it sometimes depends on the protocol defining exactly how to measure each point, and on the study team understanding the nuances of physiology, biochemistry, cytology, even the metric system, in order to report the findings accurately. This session will provide hands-on practice in some of the common and more esoteric measurements in clinical research that the presenter has seen reported erroneously in multiple data sets.
Learning Objectives:
- At the end of this workshop, participants should display: Facility in calculating several commonly computed clinical values
- Ability to transform values to equivalent units for reporting values in the same units as requested on Case Report Forms
- A critical eye towards evaluating protocols for what needed information has been left out of the implementation section and when to ask for clarification
