United States healthcare reform consists of four major areas. 1) What the administration can do without congressional approval; 2) the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, 3) The Patient Protection And Accountable Care Act and 4) The Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act. Each of these areas compliment and compete with each other. In 2010, the last two bills were passed with the understanding that further guidance and regulation were to come. While the background content was presented at ACRP last year, this session will provide an update on the guidance published since the laws went into effect as well as the evolving impact of operationalizing healthcare reform.
